Thai Yoga Bodywork is floorwork done on mats
or blankets and is done fully clothed - yogawear or a T-Shirt
and sweats. In winter, socks and a long sleeve shirt to keep
warm may be helpful: also a hair clip or tie to keep hair
of neck temporarily if needed.
The practitioner uses their
hands, feet, arms and legs to gently guide the recipient into
various stretches and yoga postures. An attitude of metta,
or loving kindness and compassion, is cultivated by the practitioner
to promote a calm and peaceful environment.
Good feedback
from the recipient is essential to bring optimal release,
but not cause pain or injury. Be general ("ooh-ahh") and specific
("to the left"), and acknowledge your limitations. Otherwise,
the recipient's role is to breathe deep, relax and let the
practitioner do the work.
